In an abandoned quarry in the countryside of Nardò, a few steps from the enchanting beaches of the Ionian coast of Salento, there are some rural houses. After a long and painstaking reconstruction using local materials, owners Cinzia and Oliviero have turned it into a rustic resort brimming with hospitality.
With the Petre e Sule they want to provide their guests with a place of peace and friendliness. Your house has three apartments for 3-5 people, all of which have been carefully restored and furnished. When you wake up here in the morning you will see many trees, plants, the sky with its feathered inhabitants and maybe also the dog Pedro and the cat Micio.
But the view is only the beginning. Here you can enjoy a typical breakfast, made with fresh and local products, lying in the shade of olive trees (which, incidentally, produce an excellent oil that Cinzia and Oliviero share with their guests, offering them a small package for their stay) , pick the untreated fruits in the garden, swim in the large pool and end the day at sunset on the main terrace with traditional local dishes and good wine.
If that's not enough, in just a few minutes you can reach the most beautiful beaches and seaside resorts of the Ionian Sea or Lecce, a city rich in history with its Baroque churches, the remains of Roman civilizations and its unique and fascinating crafts.
Only local materials have been used (tuff, Pietra Leccese), cement and industrial paints have been avoided and antique floors have been restored. Sustainable materials have also been given priority in the refurbishment and renovation of the building in order to preserve the original structure.
The offer includes seasonal dishes with local, mostly organic products. Some of them are self-cultivated (vegetables and fruit). The food waste is collected in a compost bin. Cinzia and Oliviero cook for the guests and their dishes are freshly prepared with the ingredients of the day, rediscovering old family recipes. They prefer recipes with vegetables (soups, parmigiana, fried vegetables) and legumes. Appropriate dishes are also offered for special dietary needs, in the case of allergies, intolerances and preferences (vegetarian and vegan dishes).
The facility is equipped with a photovoltaic system and a charging station for electric cars. Bed linen and towels are organic cotton and are laundered on site with mild detergents. They smell of lavender from our own garden. The waste is separated in a special ecological area. There is a drinking water well that is checked every year. The garden beyond the vegetable garden is also treated with natural products, no chemicals are used. The owners also provide information about nature conservation and conservation projects and support them both morally and financially. They sensitize their guests to avoiding plastic and wasting energy and water.
Cinzia is a physiotherapist and certified Pilates teacher and organizes Pilates classes for guests. Massages, yoga or nutritional advice can also be organized on request.
